The White Pine is a symbol of peace within Iroquois Culture. Ontario’s provincial tree and Eastern North America’s and Ontario’s tallest tree.
The tallest tree in Eastern North America. Long soft blue-green needles. Make a healthy and invigorating tea from Pine needles - it has more Vitamin C than citrus fruits! Pine wood was most often found in Colonial homes, as it is a soft wood and easy to cut. Due to its height and straightness, White Pine was suitable for masts during the sailing age, not to mention the resins used for painting, varnish and waterproofing.
