• 70+ feet (20+ m) in tundra it may be dwarfed

• Usually slow growing
• A variety of different soils
This Spruce, like the White Spruce has been cut extensively for pulp wood. The black Spruce is favoured by Kleenex manufacturers. This tree is called a “transcontinental species” in that it is found from one end of Canada to the other. Unlike other Spruce, cones will stay on the tree for many years.
