Black Oak - Quercus velutina
Long lasting
• Full sun, but can tolerate some shade
• 50+ feet ( 15 +m)
• prefers moist soil
Up until 1940 the inner bark was used to produce a yellow pigment, soled in Europe, called ‘quercitron’. Insects, squirrels, deer, turkey, small redents and birds comsuem many acorns.
