The Basswood, has a sturdy trunk and abundant foliage of asymmetrical heart-shaped leaves.
The Basswood, is sometimes referred to as a Lime, or LInden tree and is the only native ‘linden’ in Canada. Basswood produces clusters of small fragrant creamy yellow flowers. In herbalism, “Linden” flowers are used a variety of ailments including colds infection, high blood-pressure, headache etc. The flowers are fragrant and nectar producing.
